Yesterday was a big day for us. First it was our son Justin's 20th birthday hard to believe as years have gone by so fast. Then Jennifer had another great tournament in volleyball at the Home Depot Center. The North Key Club helped Albertsons collect donations and today for the City of Hope. If you are close by the Albertson's store on PCH and 190th St in the in front of Redondo Beach post office say hello to them. The rest of the weekends they will be collecting for our food bank for Easter Dinners for our food Bank. Thank you so much North Key Club...Our food bank has been helping a women's shelter and the LATC recover home this past week.
We also had a small yard sale and my good friend Janet Mercer called me to let me know that her church has a lot to give to us for next weekend yard sale. Thank you Janet.
I like to thank Teresa Fry too as she stepped up to coordinate our Easter Egg Outreach on April 7th. We are going to have a great event for the kids as we always do. This year we have a special treat as Robin Gavin will bring her puppets to share with the kids. Thank you for your prayers in advance. God bless you all and I hope you have a great Sunday.
This is what I posted on our facebook if you like to follow us on facebook you can and on twitter New Challenge is on both.
I did however left out that I have to friends that have been coming to the food bank they volunteer with the Carson Sherriff Station in Carson. They have stepped up to help us yesterday and after speaking to them they shared with me that they will take the lead to contact stores for NCM. I need all the help I am able to get. We be contacting local Target Stores, Costco, Sam’s Club for help please keep this in your prayers.
What a blessing it was yesterday too and a big surprise as well to receive from our second Albertson’s store diapers and depends boy did they go fast. We have a lot of moms that are in need of diapers.
I would like to say thank you to Store Director Alvin Fussell who directs the first store in allowing us to collect donations this month for Easter Dinners. What a huge blessing this will be. If you shop at the Albertson’s store in Redondo Beach located at PCH and 190th St. 615 N. PCH to be exact. Please tell Alvin how grateful you are to him for helping NCM. And if you shop at the Albertson’s Ave G and PCH tell the Store Director there you are grateful for all they do in helping Fresh Rescue too. In fact if you shop at the Albertson’s tell them how much you appreciate their Fresh Rescue Program.
I am so thankful to Sabrina who always gives us flowers from the Albertson’s store on Ave. G and PCH recently I was very surprised as she sent me a card thanking me for all that I do with feeding the hungry and giving the flowers out plus a $25 movie card. I was not expecting that but I was very thankful for her kind words and gift.
Please keep us in your prayers as we once again helped over 6000 people with clothes, food, counseling and some with finances. Thank you Heavenly Father for allowing me this opportunity. I feel so humbled.
The next two weekends weather permitting we will be having small yard sales so we would be able to have a good Easter Egg outreach for the families and kids and to help families that we see daily. I often thing that could be me or my family its literally frightening to think that.
Before closing I like to share the following link with you. The reporter from the Torrance Tribune came out in November to see first-hand what New Challenge is about. Three weeks ago he came back and I met with him again so he could finish the article he printed.
I noticed some of what he shared was not printed right like how we sent over 1200 kids to summer camp, I shared we collected 1200 to send two kids to summer camp.
And although we do receive food from two Ralph stores and we’re grateful for them these stores and Pizza Hut come from our friends at Food Finders in Long Beach we receive bread, cookies and eggs from the two stores but that’s all we get not like Albertson’s. One store of Ralph’s this person is so grouchy with us we even hate to go there that store is on Monday and Tuesday we only get two boxes of bread from him hopefully one day he’ll smile. Yes, I have spoken to our contact with Food Finders about him but there isn’t much they can do.
Thank you all for your prayers. I’m hoping soon that we will have one more driver to help Matt drive and load please keep this in your prayers as well as our finances at New Challenge. Thank you all for your help, what a blessing it is to know where not doing this alone.
Oh, yes, please pray for favor as I have asked the Elks Lodge in Gardena for help and I’m asking Farmer Brothers for help. God bless
